Library of Piano Music Housed at University of Maryland

November 30th, 2010 · No Comments · Arts & Entertainment :: Books & Music

The storehouse of human creation on the piano is mind-bendingly large, and historically has been spread to the winds, making focused study of the subject difficult. But that all started to change in the middle of the past century with the founding of a library to store this information. The International Library of Piano Music is touted as the world’s largest collection of piano recordings, books, scores, programs and related materials. The collection also includes papers from various esteemed pianists. The archives were founded in 1965 in Cleveland, Ohio before moving to New.  In 1977, the archives were given to the University of Maryland where they remain today. Today the collection is used by students, musicians, researchers and others interested in music history and the history of piano performance.

Why Project Managers Pursue Ongoing Training

Even for people who are not technically project managers, the skills that are learned through project management courses can be applied across a wide variety of business (and even personal life) situations. Project management course teach students how to think logically and methodically through all the issues that might affect the success of a project, starting with a definition of the project, its objectives and its expected outcomes. These course then teach you to think about all of the “players” in a project, and how they could affect its outcome. And you’ll learn how to look to potential problems in the project, how to deal with those problems and how even to get started again once things get off track. The Project Management Institute (PMI) offers many such courses. PMI certified training is available throughout the world.

A Career in Day Trading

November 22nd, 2010 · No Comments · Finance :: Stocks, Bond & Forex

The other day I ran into an old college classmate who I had not seen in years. We stopped to visit and I asked what he is doing now. I was very surprised to learn that he is now in the Stock Day Trading System. We majored in biology so I’m not exactly sure how or why he made this career switch, but he did seem happy. I know a little about day trading but not enough to carry on a reasonable conversation so we stuck to easier subjects. All through college, he swore he would never have kids and now he has eight with another one the way. I, on the other hand, only have three and wanted the large family.

The Biggest Honeywell Air Cleaner Worked for My House

November 19th, 2010 · No Comments · Home :: Home Improvement

I shopped for quite a while to find the best home air cleaning system for my home. Honeywell air cleaners were rated highly, so I chose one of theirs. I got the biggest unit, so it would take care of my whole house. It uses hepa air filters so it catches smaller particles like mold spores and allergens. It also uses ionizers, electronic filtration and activated carbon filtering to get the most particles and odors out of my home air so we can all breath a lot easier. The investment was a little more than I planned, but well worth it.

Purchasing American Eagle Gold Coin as a Graduation Gift

November 12th, 2010 · No Comments · Finance :: Trading / Investing

For my nephew’s upcoming graduation, I decided to purchase for him a American Eagle Gold Coin. He has always been an avid coin collector, so with the help of his mother I made the purchase for his growing coin collection. The day of his party, I took him aside and gave it to him. He was quite excited and thanked me over and over again. Since this gift went over well with him, I will probably see about adding to his collection for his upcoming birthday as well. His mother informed me that he was also in need of a coin display case.
